, Section 21, NE 1/4, Active. Located 5 miles south of the city of DeKalb on Perry Road, between Waterman Road and South First Street. Cemetery has been read and findings published by the Genealogical Society Of DeKalb County, Illinois. 1988.

Colton Cemetery
, Section 17, Despoiled. Located about 1 mile west of Waterman on Preserve Road just east of Leland Road. The cemetery does not exist today.

Johnson Grove Cemetery, Section 30, SE 1/4, Active. Located about 4 miles south west of Waterman on Shabbona Grove Road between Leland and Kane Roads. Cemetery has been read and findings published by the Genealogical Society Of DeKalb County, Illinois.

Waterman Cemetery, aka Rose School House Burying Ground and North Clinton Cemetery, Section 3, SW 1/4, Active. Located about 1 mile north of Waterman on Lee Road west of highway 23 and east of Waterman Road. Cemetery has been read and findings published by the Genealogical Society Of DeKalb County, Illinois.

Ohio Grove Cemetery, Section 16, SW 1/4, Active. Located about 2 miles south east of Sycamore on Barber Greene Road just west of Airport Road. Cemetery has been read and findings published by the Genealogical Society Of DeKalb County, Illinois.

Mound Rest Cemetery, aka Cortland Cemetery, Section 29, SE 1/4, Active. Located on the east edge of the village of Cortland on the north side of Rt. 38 just east of Somonauk Road. One of the oldest cemeteries in the county and well cared for. Cemetery has been read and findings published by the Genealogical Society Of DeKalb County, Illinois.

Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, aka Pleasant Hill, Section 34, NE 1/4, Despoiled. Located 2 miles east of Cortland on the south side of Rt. 38 just east of Airport Road.  There are no graves and the cemetery is no longer in existence.  Perhaps the remains were moved to Mound Rest cemetery or to the nearby cemeteries in Pierce Township.

DeKalb Township:

North DeKalb Cemetery
, aka Hoyt Cemetery, Located 2 miles north of DeKalb off Rich Road about 1/2 mile west of Glidden Road, . The cemetery was on land owned by Enos Hoyt and was platted for a 165 x 165 foot burying ground with 96 grave lots by Mr. Daniel W. Lamb, County Surveyor, on October 17, 1856.  During the early 1900's, the condition of the cemetery became run-down and measures were taken to remove some of the remains to other nearby cemeteries.  The few tombstones that remained were along the fence row. The cemetery was located in the  NW 1/4 Section 4, Township 40 N R4E of DeKalb Township, along the township line which borders Mayfield township.  It does not exist today.

Whitmore Cemetery,  was established on land donated by Clarrissa Converse Whitmore and Albert Schriver .  The cemetery was used in the 1840's, possibly as a family cemetery, but was deeded to the County in 1854 "to be used forever as a family burying ground."  In 1963 plans were being made to develop a park in this general vicinity and the tombstones were destroyed.  The remains of those who lie buried in this cemetery are still there without a marker to identify their graves.  Located in sections 10 & 11 at the section line.  Inactive.

Barber - Love Cemetery,  was located just south of Dresser Road on the west side of North First Street in Section 14, SW 1/4.  This evidently was  small family cemetery in which members of the Barber family buried their dead.  The small cemetery is no longer in view from the road along North First Street; however, the caretaker of the adjoining church property mows the grass for a picture perfect landscape.  Inactive as a cemetery but the remains have not been removed to other cemeteries.

DeKalb County Cemetery, Section 13, SW 1/4, Active. Located on the former County Farm property on the west side of Rt. 23 near Barber Green Road. Those less fortunate in surviving the conditions of the day had a home where food, housing and sickness could be cared for at the DeKalb County Home. The infirm that died and had no family were buried in this cemetery. This cemetery is well cared for and preserved even though the old county home has been torn down and relocated.  Cemetery has been read and findings published by the Genealogical Society Of DeKalb County, Illinois.

Needham Cemetery, aka Pleasant Street Cemetery, was located in Block 3 of the Gilson Addition in Section 23 of the City of DeKalb.  The majority of the remains removed to Oakwood and Fairview Cemeteries.  The property was owned by Charles Needham 2nd and the cemetery platted in 1866; however, the Evergreen and Oakwood Cemeteries were much larger and burials were not made in this small cemetery.  A petition was made by the property owner, in 1952, to remove the approximate 35 remains to other cemeteries and this was approved by the DeKalb City Council to vacate the cemetery and vault to make available the land for other purposes.   The cemetery does not exist today.

Evergreen Cemetery, Section 23, SW 1/4, Active. Located on Taylor Street at the intersection of Seventh Street on the south side of the city of DeKalb. Cemetery has been read and findings published by the Genealogical Society Of DeKalb County, Illinois.

Oakwood Cemetery, aka Oaklawn Union, Section 14, SW 1/4, Active. Located in the city of DeKalb 1/2 block north of the intersection of Sycamore Road and North First Street on the west side of the road. The First Congregational United Church of Christ at 615 North First Street hides it from the road. Cemetery has been read and findings published by the Genealogical Society of DeKalb County, Illinois.

Fairview Cemetery, Section 27, SE 1/4, Active. The largest and most active cemetery in DeKalb. Located on the south side of DeKalb on 1st Street at the corner of  Fairview Drive. 2006 Cemetery Listing

Ney Cemetery, aka Ney Methodist, Section 4, NW 1/4, Active. Located about 4 miles north of Genoa on the east side of Eisenhower Road between Poplar and Melms Roads. Cemetery has been read and findings published by the Genealogical Society Of DeKalb County, Illinois.

Genoa Cemetery, aka Genoa Burying Ground, and The Grave Yard, Section 30, SE 1/4, Active. Located about 1/4 mile south of Rt. 72 in the city of Genoa on the east side of Sycamore Street between Hill and Homewood drive. Located about 1/4 mile south of Rt. 72 in the city of Genoa on Homewood Drive between Sycamore Street and Stott Street, adjacent to Genoa Cemetery. Kingston Township:

North Kingston Cemetery aka Arbuckle ,Section 10, SE 1/4, Active. Located about 4 miles north west of Genoa on the east side of Genoa Road between Melm's Road and Cherry Valley Road. Cemetery has been read and findings published by the Genealogical Society Of DeKalb County, Illinois.

Lanan Cemetery, Section 33, Despoiled. Presumably the cemetery existed about 2 miles south of Kingston on the east side of Lanan Road near the SW 1/4 of the section. There is no visible sign of it now.

Little Red School House Cemetery, Section 20, SW 1/4, Despoiled. Location was about 1 mile west of Kingston on the north side of  Rt. 72 just past Glidden Road. Cemetery has been read and findings published by the Genealogical Society Of DeKalb County, Illinois. Cemetery was plowed under in the 1930s and nothing remains to be seen.

Kingston Cemetery, Section 23, SW 1/4, Active. Located on the east edge of the village of Kingston on the north side of Rt. 72. Malta Cemetery, Section 15, SE 1/4, Active. Located just west of Malta on the north side of Rt. 38. Cemetery has been read and findings published by the Genealogical Society Of DeKalb County, Illinois.

Hudson - Holderness Cemetery, Section 24, Inactive. Located south east of the village of Malta on the north side of  South Malta Road just past University Road. The cemetery is inaccessible. Permission must be obtained from the land owner before admittance is possible.

Mayfield Township:

Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Section 1, SW 1/4, Inactive. Located about 6 miles northwest of Sycamore on Pleasant Road between Aldrich Road and Base Line Road. The cemetery has been abandoned and no tombstones are in sight.

Robinson Cemetery, aka Mayfield Methodist Church Cemetery, aka Stones On Ault Road. Section 6, NW 1/4, Inactive. Located about 10 miles northwest of Sycamore on Ault Road near Base Line Road. There was a church nearby, which is no longer in existence. A few stones may still remain but most have been vandalized or removed for safe keeping.

Mayfield Cemetery, aka Brush Point Cemetery, Section 10, SW 1/4, Active. Located 6 miles northwest of Sycamore on the southwest corner of Church and Aldrich Roads. Cemetery lists reflect records as of 2011.

Joiner Cemetery aka Joiner/Dennis Cemetery, Section 25, NE 1/4, Inactive. Located about 3 miles west of Sycamore at the intersection of Five Points and Old State Roads. Cemetery is located on private property and is not accessible.

Paw Paw Township:

Brownell Cemetery, Section 4, SW 1/4, Inactive. Located on the east side of Sleepy Hollow Road West, about 1 mile north of Chicago Road. There are maybe two tombstones still standing.

Ross Grove Cemetery, Section 11, NE 1/4, Inactive. Located on Sleepy Hollow Road East, north of Chicago Road. Only a few stones remained in 1977 when this cemetery was read.

Harris Cemetery, aka South Paw Paw Cemetery, Section 19, NW 1/4, Inactive. Located on East Paw Paw Road between South Paw Paw Road and Whitman Road near the west county line. Very little remains today.

St. Mary's Cemetery, aka Mt. Carmel, Section 1, NE 1/4, Active. Located about 5 miles southeast of Cortland and about 1 mile south of Maple Park on the west side of County Line Road 1/2 mile south of Rt. 38. This cemetery is again on the DeKalb side of the county line near Kane County. Cemetery has been read and findings published by the Genealogical Society Of DeKalb County, Illinois.

East Pierce Cemetery, aka Community Methodist and Methodist Church Cemetery, Section 24, SW 1/4, Active. Located about 4 miles north of Hinckley and 7 miles southeast of Cortland at the intersection of Pritchard and Owens Roads. Sandwich Township:

Freeland Cemetery, Section 1, SW 1/4 of NW 1/4, Despoiled. Cemetery is no longer in existence. Located 4 miles north of Sandwich on Chicago Road just west of West Sandwich Road. No tombstones existing.   The cemetery was established as a burying ground with the transfer of an acre of ground, more or less, by Bathsheba A. Hummel of the town of Somonauk for the sum of fifty dollars on September 5, 1879.  One burial is recorded.

Pratt's Oaklawn Cemetery, aka Pratt's Cemetery, Oaklawn Cemetery, and Lawnridge Cemetery Section 24, SE 1/4 of NW 1/4, Active, Cemetery is old. Located 1 mile north of Sandwich on Pratt Road between West Sandwich Road and East Sandwich Road. Some residents of Kendall County are buried here. Cemetery has been read. (393 burials recorded)

Shabbona Township:

Calvary Cemetery, aka St. James Catholic and Lee Catholic, Section 7, NW 1/4. Located 1/2 mile south of Lee and 4 miles northwest of Shabbona on County Line Road just south of Lee Road. This cemetery is on the DeKalb County side of the county line of Lee County. Cemetery has been read and findings published by the Genealogical Society Of DeKalb County, Illinois

Somonauk Township:

Oak Mound Cemetery, Section 5, SW 1/4 of NE 1/4, Active Cemetery is located 5 miles north of the city of Somonauk  and 2 miles west of Somonauk Road at the intersection of Chicago Road and Howison Road. There is a driveway into the cemetery from Chicago Road on the south and Howison Road on the east. It has been read and findings published by the Genealogical Society Of DeKalb County, Illinois, (1988) 68 pages including index.

Oak Ridge Cemetery, Section 27, NE 1/4 of SW 1/4, Active Cemetery is located 2 miles north of Somonauk on Suydam Road just east of Somonauk Road. It has been read and the findings published by the Genealogical Society Of DeKalb County, Illinois, (1982). Contact Joiner History Room for burial list.
 

South Grove Township:

South Grove Cemetery, Section 14, NW 1/4, Active. Located about 2 1/2 miles northwest of Clare on North Malta Road just past the intersection of Old State Road. This is about 10 miles west of Sycamore on Old State Road. Cemetery has been read and findings published by the Genealogical Society Of DeKalb County, Illinois.

Greenview Cemetery, aka Esmond Cemetery, Section 18, SW 1/4, Active. Located about 1/2 mile south of Esmond on Esmond Road just north of Mowers Road. This cemetery is very near the Ogle County line, about 14 miles west of Sycamore on Rt. 64 then 1 mile north on Esmond Road. Greenwood Cemetery, aka Squaw Grove Cemetery, Section 22, NW 1/4, Active. Located just south of the village of Hinckley on the west side of Somonauk Road between Rt. 30 and Bastian Roads. Charter Grove Cemetery, Section 3, NE 1/4, Active. located about 5 miles north of Sycamore on west side of Moose Range Road between Story Road and Base Line Road. Cemetery has been read and findings published by the Genealogical Society Of DeKalb County, Illinois.

Mt. Carmel Cemetery, aka Catholic Cemetery, Section 31, Active. Located on the west end of the city of Sycamore on the south side of State Street, Rt. 64. Cemetery has been read and findings published by the Genealogical Society Of DeKalb County, Illinois.

Elmwood Cemetery, Section 32, SW 1/4, Active. Located within the city of Sycamore on the south side of town. The main entrance is on South Cross Street at the intersection of Charles Street. There is an alternate entrance on Charles Street. The following four cemeteries were all despoiled and moved to Elmwood Cemetery in 1865 when Elmwood opened its doors to the city. City, Main Street Cemetery, Section 32, Despoiled. All bodies removed to Elmwood Cemetery.

City, Methodist Cemetery, Section 32, Despoiled. The property was originally deeded to the Methodist Episcopal Church by Carlos Lattin. The land was eventually transferred to the Sycamore Community Hospital located at the corner of Somonauk and Waterman Streets. All bodies removed to Elmwood Cemetery.

City, Somonauk Street Cemetery, aka Sycamore Burying Ground, Section 32, Despoiled. Possibly located on Waterman Street. All sites removed to Elmwood Cemetery.

Barron Cemetery, aka Russell Cemetery, Section 36, SW 1/4, Despoiled. Located about 3 miles east of Sycamore on the south side of Mt. Hunger Road just past Henderson Road. Most graves were removed to Elmwood Cemetery. Nothing remains today.

Victor Township:

Wesson Cemetery, aka Victor, Section 17, SE 1/4, Active. Located about 7 miles northwest of Somonauk on Leland Road about 1/2 mile south of Wesson Road. Cemetery has been read and findings published by the Genealogical Society Of DeKalb County, Illinois.

Masear Cemetery, aka Suydam Cemetery, Section 26, NW 1/4, Inactive. Located about 4 miles northeast of Somonauk on the south side of Suydam Road just east of Rt. 23. Cemetery has been read and findings published by the Genealogical Society Of DeKalb County, Illinois.

Saint John The Baptist Catholic Church Cemetery, Section 5, SW 1/4 of SE 1/4, Active. About 2 miles south of Somonauk on South Cage Road in LaSalle County.
